Our dedicated MENA banking and finance practice represents banks,
investment banks, financial institutions and corporate clients in a
wide range of financing transactions, drawing on expertise from our
corporate, real estate, construction and insurance practice groups.
The practice is particularly well regarded for its market leading
Islamic Finance expertise and its ability to advise on complex
cross-border finance transactions.
We have a unique practice that covers conventional, Islamic and asset
finance capabilities together with treasury and investment product
expertise. Our finance offering is complimented by a team of
specialist debt capital markets experts and we regularly advise on
bonds and sukuk. Our experts dovetail seamlessly as a practice group
to provide full service capabilities to clients within this space.
We have resource, based on the ground, who specialise in finance
matters across our offices in the UAE, Qatar, KSA and United Kingdom.
We advise on local law issues within the region without appointing
external counsel. As such we are very familiar with local and
international nuances when completing high value and complex transactions.

The Role
Our busy Banking and Finance practice that has a market leading
reputation in Islamic Finance are recruiting for lawyers at NQ – 4
year PQE levels to join the team, working alongside two partners to
manage a caseload of Islamic Finance and conventional finance matters.
This is an exciting opportunity with scope for personal and
professional development, which is suited to ambitious and motivated
candidates who have a particular interest in Islamic Finance. The
roles are open in the UAE, Saudi Arabia
(” KSA “) and the UK.
Key Responsibilities
The main responsibilities are as follows:
• Assisting regional and international banks, financial
institutions, customers and borrowers with a wide range of finance
• Having a good grasp of UAE, KSA and English law matters as applicable
• Advising clients on options for structuring Shariah compliant
transactions and products
• Participating in finance transactions from start to finish
• Assisting with the drafting of Islamic Finance agreements, loan
agreements, security documents and other related agreements
• Coordinating business development activities and strategies for
key clients and target clients to grow the practice further
Essential Skills & Experience
The ideal candidates will have:
• Qualified England & Wales lawyer
• A strong academic background, including a minimum of a 2:1 from a
reputable university
• A training contract and private practice experience gained at a
reputable international law firm
• Regional experience would be an advantage.In the absence of
regional experience, the candidates must demonstrate a genuine
desire and commitment to working on a variety of matters and across
different jurisdictions
• Experience in carrying out detailed and methodical legal research
using available resources
• Demonstrates an ability to interact confidently with clients and
develop business pro-actively
• Have a mature and flexible personality and is able to work well
within a team
• Be self-motivated and possesses a very pro-active attitude towards
completing jobs and developing business
